‘In a marked change, organizers of Dyke March Chicago have moved the event from the Andersonville neighborhood to the Pilsen one in an effort to mobilize people across Chicago, according to a press release.
The location change occurred after community meetings regarding the need for more spaces for LGBTQ people. Pilsen was chosen because of its history of mobilization by the LGBTQ community and community support.
The event will take place Sat., June 28. The gathering will start at 1 p.m. at 1800 S. Halsted, and step-off will be at 2:30 p.m. Attendees will then march down 18th street to rally at Harrison Park, 1824 S. Wood. E-mail dykemarchchicago@gmail.com..
