A public memorial will be held for Chicagoan Joseph F. La Pat on Saturday, July 26, 12-3 p.m. at Misericordia Heart of Mercy, 6300 N. Ridge, Chicago. A private memorial will be held July 12 in his native Racine, Wis.
La Pat died of heart failure on Pride Sunday, June 29, in the early morning hours.
La Pat and his life partner of 39 years, Dick Uyvari, ran AREMCO, a property rental company, for more than three decades. They have been key contributors to numerous environmental and GLBT organizations, including Gay Games VII and the Center on Halsted.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Center on Halsted.
