Local HIV/AIDS organization Better Existence with HIV (BEHIV) received a $50,000 Illinois State Board of Education grant that will fund school HIV prevention presentations.
State Sen. Heather Steans supported the grant, which will help BEHIV reach more area students through its age-appropriate presentations. During Fiscal Year 2008, the organization reached an estimated 12,000 students in Chicago and the suburbs through its Education Outreach program.
