Shonda Rhimes, the creator of TV’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ has confirmed that a lesbian romance will take place next season on the show, according to 365Gay.com.
Rhimes, who made the statement during the Television Critics Association, said that a relationship of some sort will develop between the characters Dr. Callie Torres (portrayed by Sara Ramirez) and Dr. Erica Hahn (played by Brooke Smith). Rhimes consulted the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation while developing the storyline.
‘We have a really interesting, wonderful, funny way of laying out the story of Callie and Erica that I’m pretty excited about, that I feel like is not necessarily your typical—if there can be a typical—your typical way of dealing with the storyline,’ Rhimes said.
