Jack Mackenroth, who competed on the reality-TV show Project Runway, recently revealed his HIV/AIDS education campaign at the Gay Men’s Health Crisis’ ‘Fashion Forward’ benefit in New York City, according to Advocate.com. Mackenroth, who has been HIV-positive for almost two decades, has called the program ‘Living Positive by Design.’
The movie Milk got off to a very strong start in its first week of limited release, according to CNN.com. The film biography of the late gay politician Harvey Milk (which stars Sean Penn) grossed $1.4 million in just 36 theaters, an average of $38,375 a cinema. The movie that won the box office for that weekend, Four Christmases, averaged $9,571 in 3,310 theaters.
The Trevor Project—which runs the only nationwide, 24-hour crisis and suicide-prevention helpline for LGBTQ youth—will honor Oscar-nominated actress Sigourney Weaver Dec. 7 in Los Angeles, according to PR Newswire. Actress Anne Hathaway will present Weaver with the Trevor Life Award, which honors individuals who inspire LGBTQ youth. Weaver has been in movies such as Infamous and Jeffrey, and will be featured in the upcoming Lifetime film Prayers for Bobby, in which she plays a conservative woman who questions her homophobia after her gay son’s suicide.
