The office of Gov. Rod Blagojevich has announced that Michael McRaith will take over as Secretary of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
McRaith, who is openly gay, is currently the director of the Illinois Division of Insurance. The new position was open because the previous secretary, Dean Martinez, will be the state’s newest deputy governor. Martinez has made history by being the first Latino to be named to that position.
