Judge Sonia Sotomayor was sworn in Aug. 8 as the first Hispanic on the U.S. Supreme Court. The event happened less than two weeks after she was approved 13-6 by the Senate Judiciary Committee.
With her left hand on the Bible, Sotomayor made an oath to “administer justice without respect to persons and do equal right to the poor and to the rich,” according to the Washington Post.
Sotomayor will replace retired Justice David H. Souter.
