Art Smith—who shot to fame as Oprah Winfrey’s personal chef—will host a show on TLC called Craving Comfort, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

He will travel the United States exploring variations of popular dishes, such as fried chicken. “‘Craving Comfort’ celebrates the great personal stories behind America’s classic comfort foods,” said Nancy Daniels, senior vice president of production at TLC.

Smith e-mailed Windy City Times that, through the show, he wants “to help inspire and create comfort for others.” He added in his Nov. 25 response that he was “in Dayton, Ohio, feeding 10,000 people for Thanksgiving’s ‘Feast of Giving.'” He added that he was then going “off to South Africa to cook for my 300 daughters at The Oprah Winfrey Girls Leadership Academy.”

Smith and life/business partner Jesus Salguiero have started the organization Common Threads, which educates children about nutrition and physical well-being, and fosters an appreciation of cultural diversity through cooking. See www.CommonThreads.org.
