As the Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles, at least two venues in Chicago hosted galas that were all about the televised event. Center on Halsted held its annual Oscar gala, “On the Red Carpet,” in the International Ballroom of the Fairmont Chicago. In addition, the Gene Siskel Film Center was the site of “Oscar Night® America 2010,” which, according to the center’s Web site, is “the only officially recognized Oscar® celebration by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences® in Chicago.”
