In Malawi, a court has convicted gay couple Steven Monjeza, 26, and Tiwonge Chimbalanga, 20, of unnatural acts and gross indecency, according to BBC News.
Judge Nyakwawa Usiwa-Usiwa said that both men engaged in gay sex, an act he deemed “against the order of nature.”
The couple’s attorney said, “Here are two consenting adults doing their thing in private. Nobody will be threatened or offended if they are released into society.”
The couple will be sentenced May 20; they could receive up to 14 years in prison.
