Lesbian actress Kelly McGillis—who achieved stardom in the 1980s by starring in such movies as Top Gun, Witness and The Accused—was joined with longtime girlfriend Melanie Leis in a civil-union ceremony, according to the New York Times.
The ceremony for McGillis, 53, and Leis, 42, a sales executive, took place Sept. 15 in Collingswood, N.J.
The couple met in 2000, when Leis tended bar at a Key West, Fla., restaurant McGillis co-owned with her second husband, Fred Tillman. In 2009, McGillis officially came out of the closet.
