Spin Milwaukee to present Oscar winning actor at festival; Milwaukee Film to honor her with Career Achievement Award following a special screening of Thelma & Louise

MILWAUKEE — September 21, 2010 — Milwaukee Film will play host to Oscar-winning actress, Susan Sarandon, this Saturday, September 25, when she attends a special screening of her 1991 hit film, Thelma & Louise, at the Landmark Oriental Theatre. $10 individual tickets are on sale now for the screening of Thelma & Louise.

Sarandon, co-owner of the recently-opened table tennis social club SPiN Milwaukee (www.spinmilwaukee.com), will be on-hand following the 4:30 p.m. screening of Thelma & Louise, for a conversation with local film critic Gino Salomone and the audience. Following the talk-back, Milwaukee Film will honor Sarandon with a Career Achievement Award on stage.

“It is thrilling to have an actress of Susan’s caliber attend this year’s film festival,” said Jonathan Jackson, Artistic and Executive Director for Milwaukee Film. “To award a screen icon in her prime is a rare treat that festival audiences don’t often get the opportunity to experience.”

Sarandon brings her own brand of intelligence and sex appeal to every role she takes on, from her fearless portrayal in Bull Durham to her Oscar-nominated performances in Thelma and Louise, Lorenzo’s Oil,The Client, and Atlantic City, to her Oscar-winning and SAG award-winning role in Dead Man Walking. She will be seen on the big screen next in Oliver Stone’s much-anticipated new film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. She has also appeared on Broadway, lent her vocal talents to animated films such as Rugrats in Paris, and has been nominated for several Emmy awards for her films for HBO.

The 2010 film festival will play host to many special guests over its 11-day run, including directors, producers, writers and actors. A full list of these guests is below.
