Final AIDS Walk Volunteer Meeting is Wed. Oct. 13 Group Still Seeks Walkers & Bake Sale Donors for Oct. 16 AIDS Walk

The Southern Illinois AIDS Walk will hold its final volunteer meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 7:30pm at the SIU Newman Center, 715 S. Washington Street in Carbondale. Free pizza will be served, and then at 8pm the group will go to the SIU campus to chalk sidewalks.

The AIDS Walk will be held this Saturday, Oct. 16 at 12 noon at the Newman Center, with registration and a health fair beginning at 11am. All those who raise or donate $25 will receive a walk t-shirt. Proceeds from the walk benefit the Southern Illinois AIDS Holiday Project, which serves over 150 low-income households impacted by HIV / AIDS in the 19 southern-most counties of Illinois.

Individuals can register the day of the walk, or they can register and raise money on-line at www.CarbondaleAIDSWalk.org . Checks can be made out to the AIDS Walk and mailed to AIDS Walk c/o Newman Center, 715 S. Washington Street, Carbondale, IL 62901. Club Traz of Carbondale will also hold a fundraiser during the evening of Oct. 16 for the AIDS Holiday Project.

The event is still seeking volunteers to provide baked goods for a bake sale at the walk, and individuals, groups and families to sponsor one or more of the low-income households impacted by HIV / AIDS.
