Chicago mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel was at the House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn, on Jan. 10. More than 1,200 people attended the fundraiser thrown by Desiree Rogers. The sold-out crowd enjoyed singer Jennifer Hudson belting tunes such as “Let It Be,” “Spotlight” and “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.”

Emanuel recently stated that he would add 1,000 new police officers to the streets of Chicago if he is elected mayor. This was not enough to appease a few protesters standing outside holding signs. The candidate also mentioned how proud he was of the youth choir that opened the evening, and applauded the character of artists such as udson. He plans on throwing more fundraisers in the future although he has not released his goals at this time. Photos and text by Jerry Nunn
