Women & Children First Bookstore was the scene Feb. 22 of a mini-reading from the play Half Life in conjunction with a signing of the new novel The Half Life of Sgt. Jen Hunter, by Tracy Baim.

The special performance was done by Kelli Strickland and Bev Spangler reading the two key characters, a reporter for a gay and lesbian newspaper and a closeted lesbian in the Air Force. Spangler created the script for stage based on Baim’s book. Windy City Times photo of Strickland (left) and Spangler by Hal Baim
