Michael Spivak, a gay-rights advocate who grew up in Buffalo Grove, Ill., died in Minneapolis, Minn., according to the Daily Herald. He was 32.

When Spivak failed to show up for a meeting, friends grew concerned. A female friend discovered his body in the house where he lived alone.

Lt. Richard Zimmerman of the Minneapolis Police Department said that there were no signs of foul play. There was also nothing to suggest suicide, burglary or any other crime, he added.

A graduate of the University of Illinois and Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Spivak recently was a development chair for Creating Change, a national conference in Minneapolis that focused on equality issues.

Spivak is survived by his parents, Marc and Marlyn Spivak, and his younger brother, Daniel. Spivak’s funeral took place March 3 at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand, Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bisexual Organizing Project, P.O.
