The Chicago Foundation for Women (CFW) kicked off its 25th year with a celebratory event that honored 10 influential men and women who are active in the global movement to support women and girls.

The Chicago Center for the Performing Arts hosted the 2011 Impact Awards, and guests raised their glasses to Chicago’s global movement elite. Honorees included Causes for Change Founder/President Zully JF Alvarado; Strategic and Global Alliances Senior Counsel Tianne Bataille; philanthropist Marjorie Craig Benton; Women’s Equity in Access to Care and Treatment Co-Founder Dr. Mardge H. Cohen; Heartland Alliance Marjorie Kovler Center Director of Torture Treatment Services and International Training Mary Fabri, PsyD; Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights Director Joshua Hoyt; Women’s Global Education Project Executive Director Amy Maglio; Muslim Women’s Resource Center Founder/Executive Director Sima Quraishi; Immigrant Youth Justice League Co-Founder Tania Unzueta Carrasco; and The Center for Art and Spirituality in International Development President/Founder Patricia L. Walker, Ph.D.

CFW President K. Sujata said, “We are honoring 10 women and men in Chicago who are at the heart of the global women’s movement, working on the creating thriving communities in a number of regions in the world.
