Local out philanthropist Michael Leppen is among six individuals who will be honored May 7 at AIDS Assistance Program’s 18th annual “Evening Under the Stars” gala. The event will take place at the O’Donnell Golf Club in Palm Springs, Calif.
Leppen will receive the Jeannette Rockefeller Humanitarian Award. (Rockefeller was the founding president of AIDS Assistance Program.) According to a press release, Leppen “has provided leadership and financial support for a large variety of nonprofit organizations in the Chicago area, Palm Springs and throughout the country, many of them serving minority communities with regard to concerns such as HIV/AIDS, lesbian health, youth work, and mass media.”
Local philanthropist Jackie Lee Houston will be honorary event chair for the gala, which will feature the music of The B-52s.
