Circuit Nightclub shook their hips all night with singer Elvis Crespo, the Club Papi dancers and Ms Lola as hostess on April 7. Elvis brought his Indestructible Gay Club Tour to the venue with backup dancers singing his hits such as “Suavemente.” He took his song “Pintame” (“Paint Me”) literally and was painted onstage by Papis.

There was some controversy when doing press around town in Chicago. Elvis walked out of the building when WPPN La Kalle 106.7 did not allow him to discuss his support of the LGBT community on air. Sources say that it was more of an advertising decision for the radio station although Crespo didn’t take it that way: “I’m disappointed that it’s the 21st century and this type of discrimination still exists in the media.”

The tour continues on to Houston and San Diego, with stops at several gay pride events. Follow the king of merengue at www.elviscrespolive.com but brush up on your Spanish first, por favor. Photos and text by Jerry Nunn
