Board chair Melissa Widen welcomed attendees with a personal story about having a choice. Several awards were distributed throughout the afternoon, with Planned Parenthood Vice President of Public Policy Pam Sutherland receiving the Irving B. Harris Spirit of Choice Award and Jennie Goodman being given the Pro-Choice Leadership Award. Protesters lined the streets outside the building, with signage against Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, who was in attendance.
