Chicago Windy City Black Pride held its “The Color Is Red” gala Feb. 11, in the Narcissus Room of Macy’s on State Street.

The gala marked National Black HIV Awareness Day.

Jackie Anderson, a longtime board member of the organization POW-WOW and an activist, was among those honored, receiving the 2012 Lois Bates Legend Award. The award is named after the late local transgender activist who passed away last year.

In addition, the Male Promoter of the Year Award went to K’DOCK Media Group. Bblyss Productions received Female Promoter of the Year honors, and Keith Green was the recipient of the Positively Fierce Award.
