With the theme, “Hort Couture,” there were more than 25 featured display gardens that took cues their cues on style and beauty from the designs, colors, textures and fabrics found in high-fashion couture garments.
Other highlights included Days of Our Lives cast members appearing in conjunction with the Horton Garden being at the show; a replica of Oprah’s Oak; Chicago’s Largest Seed Exchange; a cake-decorating competition; and an interactive replica of the White House vegetable garden. In addition, there was an “Evening in Bloom” preview benefit with models wearing creations by local young designers from the Chicago Fashion Incubator.
There was also a huge marketplace that sold items both expected (seeds and home furnishings) and surprising (a vibrating weight-loss machine).
