Jenna Talackova will not be competing for this year’s Miss Universe Canada crown because she was born male, according to US Magazine.
The organization released a statement saying, “Jenna Talackova from Vancouver, British Columbia will not compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada competition because she did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form.” Talackova, 23, underwent gender-reassignment surgery at age 19.
A Change.org petition has been launched, asking pageant organizer Donald Trump to reverse the ruling.
