“But I realized, with acting, I could be all of those things [potentially,] and more,” said Poss, who has landed roles in film, TV and on commercials, including one from U.S. Bank that is now airing.
He also will appear in the upcoming movie The Drunk that stars Tom Sizemore and Jesse Ventura, and he previously had a role in the TV show Chicago Code.
His acting resume has included roles as a sniper, origami whiz, spoiled son of a diplomat and more.
Next up for the budding actor: Oedipus el Rey at Victory Gardens Theater—Biograph, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave., in which a juvenile delinquent (Poss) from South Central Los Angeles sets off on his journey to be the king of the gangland. According to the theater’s website, “Set amid the sizzling rhythms and explosive violence of a California barrio, the gripping story follows his family of ex-cons through the vicious cycle of fate and violence in which they find themselves trapped. Oedipus el Rey is a sexy, dangerous and modern Latino take on a classic.”
“I’m very excited for this show; it’s probably the most demanding role I’ve had,” Poss said of the production, which runs through July 29.
“Career-wise, this is a really exciting opportunity,” Poss said. “Getting to work with artistic director and director, Chay Yew, has been great.”
Poss is Roscoe’s regular front-bar server on Sundays, which is his favorite work shift, from 8 p.m. until the bar closes.
“Roscoe’s is a great place to work with a fun staff,” Poss said. “Sunday Funday is always a fun day to be at the bar—good people, great crowd, very chill.”
Plus, Sundays at Roscoe’s means $1 Miller Lite draft and Male Call as well as the Wet Boxer Contest on the first Sunday of every month.
