Howard Brown Health Center and Near North Health Service Corporation are among the Illinois recipients of a $68-million grant disbursement that Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced.

The disbursement is part of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Part D program to provide coordinated HIV primary medical care and support services to women, infants, children and youth. HBHC will receive $500,000 per year for three years, totaling $1.5 million, while NNHSC will receive $200,000 per year for three years, totaling $600,000.

The other recipients in Chicago include Access Community Health Network ($353,328 per year), Hektoen Institute for Medical Research ($1,382,507) and the board of trustees of the University of Illinois (separate grants of $200,000 and $292,956).
