Chicago-based actress/filmmaker Fawzia Mirza and filmmaker Ryan Logan have teamed to make the short film The Queen of My Dreams, which will have its local premiere at the 48th Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF).
The Queen of My Dreams is a three-minute docu-narrative-experimental short about Bollywood, drag and identity. It tells the story of a young girl (Mirza) as she explores issues surrounding Bollywood heroines, queer identity, her mother and femininity.
CIFF will take place Oct. 11-25. The Queen of My Dreams screens multiple times throughout the festival, but will have its first screening Oct. 16 in competition as part of Shorts 1: “City & State” program.
