The Chicago International Film Festival (CIFF) is honoring actresses Joan Allen, Viola Davis and Helen Hunt with its Silver Hugo award.
Allen (Oct. 14), Hunt (Oct. 20) and Davis (Oct. 22) will accept the awards during three respective special evenings at the AMC River East, 322 E. Illinois St.
Allen has won a Tony (for Lanford Wilson’s Burn This) and is a three-time Oscar nominee (Nixon; The Crucible; and The Contender). Oscar-, Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning actress Hunt (As Good As It Gets, Castaway) will attend the special presentation of Ben Lewin’s much-anticipated film The Sessions. Davis—who has received Academy Award nods for Doubt and The Help—will receive the CIFF’s Career Achievement Award during the festival’s Black Perspectives program.
The 48th Chicago International Film Festival will take place Oct. 11-25. Passes are available by visiting www.chicagofilmfestival.com or calling 312-683-0121.
