Equality Illinois’ Dining Out for Equality will take place Thursday, Oct. 11. That date also marks National Coming Out Day and the inauguration day for the Legacy Walk outdoor LGBT museum in Boystown.
“With The Legacy Walk dedication and National Coming Out Day, we will have much to celebrate by Dining Out for Equality,” said Bernard Cherkasov, CEO of Equality Illinois, in a statement. “In these days when some restaurants make a point of hating the LGBT community, it is a good gesture to support the LGBT-friendly establishments and, at the same time, return something to the community to continue the fight for equality.”
Taverna 750, 750 W. Cornelia Ave., is the lead sponsor for Dining Out for Equality. Kit Kat, Socca, Nookies Edgewater, Halsted’s and HB Home Bistro are just some of the other restaurants participating. A significant portion of diners’ bills will be donated to Equality Illinois that evening.
