Trikone-Chicago will screen Onir’s film, I AM, and Fawzia Mirza’s short film, Queen of My Dreams, on Saturday, Nov 3rd at 3:00pm. The film screenings, which will be held at Chicago Filmmakers, will be followed by a discussion led by a panel. The panel will consist of the Executive Director of Rape Victim Advocates, Sharmili Majmudar, actress and film director, Fawzia Mirza, and independent filmmaker and member of the Humanities program at the University of Chicago, Tom Silva.

This event is planned by Trikone-Chicago in an effort to provide a platform for queer South Asians, their families, friends and allies to discuss the various stigmas experienced within oneself and within the South Asian community. Onir’s is a film that tells four distinct identity related tales, and Mirza’s re-imagines the spell of Bollywood heroines and their promise of love and feminine perfection, in a queer light.

Chicago Filmmakers is on 5243 N. Clark St., Chicago, Illinois 60640. There will be $10 admission at the door, and there will be snacks and beverages. The films will be in Hindi with English subtitles. To RSVP for this event, please contact Moses Tulasi at mosestulasi@gmail.com.
