Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines will air on PBS April 15 at 10 p.m. ET.
A film by Kristy Guevara-Flanagan and Kelcey Edwards, Wonder Women looks at how popular representations of powerful women often reflect society’s anxieties about women’s liberation.
The film goes behind the scenes with TV stars Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) and Lindsay Wagner (The Bionic Woman); comic writers and artists; and women such as Gloria Steinem. See www.pbs.org/independentlens/wonder-women.
On a local note, Carter will join ’90s group Wilson Phillips at this year’s Northalsted Market Days, which will take place Aug. 11-12.
