The conference, held April 10-14 at the Palmer House Hilton in the Loop, featured several panel discussions, presentations and exhibitions focusing on LGBT issues within political science.
Attendees covered politics of LGBT families, gays in the military, LGBT global issues as well as LGBT political candidates.
“I think the LGBT presence here makes it obvious the topic is becoming more prevalent in society,” said Bianca Slob, a political science student at University of Toledo. “More people are talking about it. The importance level is at an all-time high.”
Many presentations focused on issues of oppressed groups, including racial minorities, women and people living in poverty.
