Jeannie Tanner

Acclaimed vocalist, composer and trumpeter Jeannie Tanner will be a part of the opening season of their semi annual *Jazz Concert Series: Rhythm, Rhyme & the Refrain on Saturday, June 8 at 8 p.m. at the Open Door Theater, 902 South Ridgeland, Oak Park.

Audiences will enjoy an evening with Jeannie Tanner, as she and her quartet perform the songs of award winning American composer, Harold Arlen. Arlen’s hits include “Stormy Weather,” “Get Happy,” “That Old Black Magic,” “I’ve Got the World on a String,” “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” and of course, “Over the Rainbow” — just to name a few.

-Ms. Tanner is an accomplished composer and her last four cds have been Grammy-considered. The Jeannie Tanner Quartet features: Jeannie Tanner (vocals/trumpet), Lisa McQueen on piano, bassist Cory Biggerstaff and Darren Scorza on drums.

-Jazz Concert Series: Rhythm, Rhyme & the Refrain, features some of Chicago’s most highly acclaimed jazz artists. For the Spring season, artists open the pages of the Great American Songbook to present the words and music of some of America’s most celebrated composers and lyricists.
