LGBTs and their allies marched in Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade Saturday, May 25, along State Street downtown. American Veterans for Equal Rights Chicago chapter, GLASS (Gay, Lesbian and Supporting Sailors) of Great Lakes, and Lakeside Pride band members marched in the annual tribute to members of the military and those lost in battle. The Chicago’s Memorial Day parade is one of the largest in the nation. The gay veteran contingent and band have been included in the parade for many years and GLASS joined shortly after it was formed following the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
