Consumer-advocacy website NerdWallet used a data-driven approach to find the country’s most gay-friendly cities—and Chicago ranked among the top 20.
To compile the list, analysts considered the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index, the percentage of households that are same-sex, the number of gay-related hate crimes and an overall gay-friendliness score.
Chicago came in 12th with a score of 67. The top three cities are Palm Springs, Calif.; San Francisco; and Seattle.
