Transgender writer Renee James will appear with Samantha Hoffman and Randy Richardson at City Lit Books, 2523 N. Kedzie Blvd., on Thursday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m.

James will discuss her book Coming Out Can Be Murder. According to a press release, she wrote the book because “fiction tells the transgender story in a way that the many great autobiographies in the field can’t.”

Hoffman, who is promoting What More Could You Wish For, has stories that have appeared in Chicken Soup for the Dieter’s Soul, The Corner Magazine in London and numerous other print and online publications. Attorney and award-winning journalist Richardson is president of the Chicago Writers Association.

The event is free. Email Teresa@citylitbooks.com for more info.
