Openly gay Dr. Daniel Baer, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Democracy Human Rights and Labor, and who has been nominated by President Obama to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) based in Vienna, was a featured speaker at the plenary.
Uganda Bishop Christopher Senyonjo, who is fighting Uganda’s proposed “Kill the Gays” bill, was honored during event.
The Rev. Pat Bumgarder, executive director of the Global Justice Institute, spoke about her group’s work internationally on LGBTQ issues, and she introduced guest speakers at the press conference:
