The Rainmaker

Summer is slipping away, so don’t miss your chance to experience theater in the great outdoors while you still can. After its fine West Virginian interpretation of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline earlier this summer, First Folio Theatre turns its attentions to Richard Nash’s 1954 classic melodrama The Rainmaker. See if a mysterious stranger really can convince a drought-stricken town whether or not he can produce vital rain during the Great Depression. The Rainmaker continues through Sunday, Sept. 1, at the Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st St., Oak Brook. Performances are at 8:15 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Tickets are $30-$37.
