If you’re a fan of erections (getting them, using them, or simply just an admirer), you might want to check out local pop-electronica artist Blue Redder. You’ll be up to your dick in erections when you see his sexiness slinking all over the stage. I caught his recent performance at Touche’s Bear All 2.0 and it was all I could do to not rip my zipper. And his music’s good too.
A while back I gave Ashley over at Mary’s Attic a flash drive containing every single photo of the bar we’ve ever printed in Nightspots for use in a photo collage to line the wall of the staircase leading up to the attic. I was overjoyed when I saw the finished product, featuring some of our best shots of Mary’s employees, queens, DJs and loyal locals. And the shot of me manhandling Teri Yaki made the cut. Stop by for a trip down memory lane as you climb up the stairs.
We’re going to press one day before the big Barlesque finale at Sidetrack, so I cannot report in these pages what the final fundraising total is, but I can report with total assuredness that they already blasted past last year’s record total. This year’s contestants did such an amazing job and I was kept quite busy at many of their events, like that of kreamy kover boy Kyle Krave. If you look closely at this intentionally tiny picture, you’ll see to what lengths I will go to help TPAN’s cause.
And between Wood (who just received the biggest rave reviews in three years on Check, Please!) and the upcoming mEAT (the upcoming meat skewer joint from the folks behind minibar and DS), there’ll be a lot of salivating on the corner of Buckingham and Halsted. I hope to have more info on mEAT’s opening by the next issue, out Dec. 11.
