Founded in 2003 by gay partners Chef Art Smith and artist Jesus Salgueiro, the organization Common Threads has helped children learn how to cook and eat healthier for over 10 years now.

Farmhouse restaurant held an after-work fundraiser for the cause, complete with appetizers and guest bartenders, on March 25. One celebrity slinging drinks, whom Windy City Times recently interviewed, was out and proud lifestyle architect Jay Michael, who starred in Bravo’s 100 Days of Summer.

The next Chicago event is a sit-down dinner featuring six chefs at Le Colonial on Rush Street in April. For details and tickets for the limited seating dining experience, visit events.commonthreads.org.
