On April 2, the intersection of North Halsted and West Aldine streets was renamed “Yoshi Katsumura Way.”

Chef-proprietor Katsumura and his wife, Nobuko, have been creating and serving meals at Yoshi’s Café, 3257 N. Halsted St., for nearly 32 years.

Ald. Tom Tunney, who sponsored the City Council ordinance designating Yoshi Katsumura Way, presided over the ceremony. The new street sign was installed a day or so prior to the April 2 unveiling. The Katsumuras received a replica of the sign at the event, which Japanese Consul General Yoshida Masaharu also attended.
