Windy City Times Publisher Tracy Baim is one of three individuals named as inductees to this year’s National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association’s (NLGJA’s) LGBT Journalists Hall of Fame.
Baim co-founded Windy City Times in 1985 and Outlines newspaper in 1987. Lambda Publications, the parent company of Outlines, bought Windy City Times in 2000 and merged it with Outlines, and the parent company became Windy City Media Group. She has also written and/or edited books such as Gay Press, Gay Power: The Growth of LGBT Community Newspapers in America and
The other journalists are longtime political reporter Lisa Keen (who was written many items Windy City Times has run); and Donna Cartwright, veteran copy editor at The New York Times and a longtime transgender, LGBT and labor activist.
This year’s LGBT Journalists Hall of Fame inductees will be honored Aug. 23 during the NLGJA Awards Reception at Breaking Barriers, the 2014 NLGJA National Convention and 10th Annual LGBT Media Summit. For more information on the convention, visit www.nlgja.org/2014/.
