It was the perfect outdoor venue packed with a grassy picnic area of hopefuls waiting for a glimpse of the boot-wearing songstress. They witnessed a visually stunning light show that began with Norwegian duo Royksopp, then slowly grooved into Robyn’s set that really got the crowd going because of club hits like “Dancing On My Own” and “Indestructible.”
On the microphone she asked, “When you are down, who are you going to call?” She then sang “Call Your Girlfriend.”
Robyn convinced the fans to wave their hands in the air and wore a shimmery disco dress at one point. People may not be familiar with her Royksopp work but it didn’t stop them from having a good time and swaying with breeze.
“Do It Again” was a huge crowd-pleaser that ended with confetti cannons shooting into the heavily gay audience.
Fireworks from Navy Pier and the scenic background added to the festivities of a concert that used the monumental space well. Hopefully, more artists will take up the idea of Millennium Park as a place to hold concerts.
