The International Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans & Intersex Association, the largest international association of its kind defending the rights of LGBTI people, is issuing a last call for registration for its bi-annual World Conference to be held this year in Mexico City Oct. 27-31.
ILGA’s 27th World Conference, “De-colonizing our bodies,” is the second conference to take place in Latin America and the first in Mexico. The symbol of the Conference, Tlazoltéotl, is a Mexican indigenous goddess representing lust, sin, filth and transformation. She was chosen for her transgressiveness, a force to empower us to transform the world. Applications can be submitted through the website from now until Sept. 15, 2014.
ILGA World Conferences are a reference point for the world. They have previously been held on three different continents and have dependably served as an international platform for LGBTI issues for almost half a century. In these gatherings, over 450 representatives of civil society organizations from around the world come together for one week with policy makers, academics and UN representatives to discuss some of the most pressing issues facing our global community.
For more information about the conference please check out their official facebook page or follow them on twitter. Any additional questions regarding the registration process may be submitted by email to registration@ilgaworldconference.org.
