Minneapolis, MN, USA Bisexual Organizing Project (BOP) held its annual meeting and board elections on Sunday January 11, 2015. The annual meeting featured the introduction of four new initiatives designed to further BOP’s mission:
Build, serve and advocate for an empowered bisexual, pansexual,
fluid, queer, and unlabeled (bi+) community to promote social justice.
The 2014 board of directors is as follows:
Camille Holthaus, Chair
Beth Wright, Co-Chair
Martha Hardy, Secretary
Forrest Birnel, Treasurer

Tara Durney, Director
Mary Hoelscher, M. Ed, Director
Michelle Moses, Director
Miriah Sheehy, Director
“I am very excited to be starting the second year of my term with this team,” said Camille Holthaus, Chair of the board. BOP introduced four new initiatives at the annual meeting: a new volunteer program, a new membership program, an access and inclusion plan with educational and restructuring elements, the Bi+ Story Program, and the Bi+ Essentials presentation.
These four initiatives are integral to BOP’s Strategic Plan 2014-2019 which includes short and long term goals to expand the number and variety of the organization’s community programs and the size and scope its conference, BECAUSE. Throughout the presentation, there were mentions of ways to get involved with BOP. “Of course, we are always looking for new people to help us plan and host our programs. Our new volunteer program run by volunteer coordinator Colleen Waldie will help us match people to opportunities that interest them,” said Holthaus.
BECAUSE stands for Bisexual Empowerment Conference: A Uniting, Supportive Experience. It is the largest and longest running conference in the US which is by, for and about the bi+ community and allies.
The BOP board of directors is elected by members attending the annual meeting. Additional board members can subsequently be appointed by the board. Anyone interested in working with the board or volunteering with BOP should contact bop@bisexualorganizingproject.org for more information. BOP is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization.
