On Feb. 24, Egalite (pronounced Eh-gah-lee-tay) Chicago held a social at The Point to benefit The Center on Halsted. Egalite Chicago is the Publicis Groupe employee-resource organization for LGBTQs and their allies and is generally involved in employee networking with the intent of implementing resources on the corporate level. This event hosted employees from nine corporations and organizations, including Slalom Consulting, Walgreens, United Airlines, PepsiCo, PWC, Chase, and the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago.

Guests dined on an assortment of appetizers that included sliders, grilled vegetables, and a variety of sliced hams and cheeses that The Point donated.

Midway through the event, Center on Halsted CEO Modesto “Tico” Valle thanked the group for its generosity, and spoke about the many programs currently offered at the center and of the beneficial effect they are having for the less fortunate. With a great deal of humor, he also spoke of the many upcoming events that will focus on housing for LGBTQ homeless youth and seniors.

Despite the cold weather, the event raised more than $1,200.
