Sheila Healy—of Wheeling, Illinois, and formerly of McHenry, Lake Villa, Chicago and Elm Grove, Wisconsin—died Jan. 10. She was 56.
She is survived by her dog, Maddie, Fran Glowinski, O.S.F., Patrick Larvie, Colleen Beck, Priscilla Mazur, Martha Zuehlke, Larry Lundberg, Judy Gilliland, Ann Rendall, Kim Hunt, Mary DeBacker, Barbara Marian and Jerry Powers, Mary and Jay Fox, Susie Kallies, Jetta Pyatt, Jan Andersson and Diane Nimocks, as well as Pat Healy Andera and her family. She is further survived by nephews, a niece, an aunt, an uncle and other family and friends.
Sheila grew up in Elm Grove. She moved to Chicago and graduated summa cum laude from Loyola University, where she also received her master’s degree. She studied human development at the doctoral level at the University of Chicago. She worked in the civil and criminal-justice systems as well as in private practice.
Sheila spent much of her adult life working with social justice organizations, primarily focused on LGBT issues. She enjoyed music, golf, travel, and breeding and showing American Saddlebred horses.
A memorial visitation will take place Saturday, Jan. 23, 10-11 a.m., followed by a life celebration service at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. in Wheelng. Inurnment is by Turtle Bay, Hawaii.
