With LGBT, highlights included:

—Of the 20 cities that saw a positive change in their ranking, 11 were in traditionally red states, including Virginia, Kentucky, Louisiana and Texas; and

—Traditionally LGBT-friendly cities like Minneapolis, San Diego and New York saw a drop in their national rankings in terms of populations.

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, roughly 3 percent of Americans identify as something other than “straight.”

This map shows the change in national ranking from two different surveys. Sources: U.S. Census and 2012-2014 Gallup Daily tracking. It doesn’t say why select cities are shown, however, using the curser on the ConsumerAffairs.com version of this map reveals demographic info.
