The president/founder of Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP), Barbara Blaine, has resigned, according to several media outlets.
Blaine founded the group in Chicago nearly three decades ago. Her resignation happened shortly after SNAP announced the departure of its national director, David Clohessy.
Former employee Gretchen Rachel Hammond recently filed a lawsuit against SNAP, accusing the organization of referring clients to attorneys in exchange for financial kickbacks. (Blaine, Clohessy and outreach director Barbara Dorris are named in the lawsuit.) Blaine denied that her resignation is connected to the suit.
In the interest of full disclosure, Hammond is a writer for Windy City Times.
