Erika Linder and Natalie Krill in Below Her Mouth. Production still from Siskel Film Center

Director: April Mullen. Starring: Erika Linder, Natalie Krill, Sebastian Pigott. Running time: 94 min. Chicago release date: Feb. 10

Canada Serendipity Point Films and Distant Horizon present the indie flick Below Her Mouth. Before we are even finished with the credits the sounds of sex are heard, setting the tone for the story. For date night this Mouth warms up real fast!

Our adventure begins with a character named after the TV show Dallas, ending her relationship with her current girlfriend. She is quickly on the hunt again. She spots prey from high above as she works as a roofer. A nearby neighbor from the job she is currently working on walks by and is noticed.

That neighbor is named Jasmine, played by Natalie Krill, and is engaged to Rile, played by Sebastian Pigott. Jasmine seems unsatisfied with her husband-to-be for various reasons—including him refusing to wear the nail polish she wants him to.

Later in the evening Jasmine drunkenly stumbles into a lesbian bar, where she bumps into Dallas in the bathroom. Is Jasmine ready to risk it all for a kiss with a construction worker?

It’s a moody piece that tests boundaries of what we normally see sexually in cinema.

For those of you who have fallen in love with a straight girl, this is the movie for you.

This flick could focus a little more on being above her mouth, like her brain, but the sex is definitely riveting. There are some nice moments when Dallas opens up about herself. The acting is well-done, especially by Erika Linder.

Viewers will most likely be a niche crowd for Below Her Mouth, watching to see the storyline push the envelope graphically onscreen.

Below Her Mouth shares the love on Feb. 10, 13 and 15 at the Gene Siskel Center, 164 N. State St. Ticket information can be found at SiskelFilmCenter.org.
