Below is a list of some of the local World AIDS Day-related events that are slated to take place on or around the official date (Friday, Dec. 1):

—South Suburban College will hold its “World AIDS Day: HIV and Hepatitis C Awareness Workshop” on Wed., Nov. 29, 1-2 p.m. in the MB Financial Suite of the main campus. Visit www.ssc.edu/event/world-aids-day-hiv-hepatitis-c-awareness-workshop/.

—A World AIDS Day panel presentation is taking place Wed., Nov. 29, 9-10:30 a.m. at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s College of Nursing, 845 S. —World of Chocolate: AIDS Foundation of Chicago will again host the event on Friday, Dec. 1—this time at Revel Fulton Market, 1215 W. Fulton St., 6-9 p.m. The theme is “International Affair,” and there will be more than 20 chocolatiers present. For tickets, visit chocolate.aidschicago.org/.

—CALOR’s free event “World AIDS Day – Keep The Promise” will take place Friday, Dec. 1, 6-10 p.m., at Latin Rhythms Academy of Dance & Performance, 210 N. —A World AIDS Day service will take place Friday, Dec. 1, 7 p.m., at AChurch4Me, Metropolitan Community Church, 7366 N. Clark St. See AChurch4Me.org.

—Caring By Sharing, presented by Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 1650 W. Foster Ave., will take place on Friday, Dec. 1, 7 p.m. Professional singers from cabaret, musical theater and opera will join forces in the fight against HIV/AIDS, as well as to support those affected by and remember those who have died from HIV/AIDS. —Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church, 3330 S. Martin Luther King Dr., will hold a World AIDS Day event on Friday, Dec. 1, 6-8 p.m. Attendees will celebrate the bishop’s Appeal collection of more than $70,000 for the United Methodist Global AIDS Fund taken at the 2017 Annual Conference; the Chicago Children’s Choir will perform. —On Saturday, Dec. 2, The Center for African American Ministries and Black Church Studies Program at McCormick Theological Seminary will host the HIV/AIDS Clergy and Lay Leadership Summit XIII: “Loving Our Neighbor: HIV/AIDS Care Continuum Re-Defined.”

The event will take place at the seminary, 5460 S. University Ave., 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and will include praise/worship, breakfast and a panel discussion; visit “HIV/AIDS Clergy and Lay Leadership Summit 13” on Eventbrite.com.
